2018 was a heck of a year for Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club.  It was a year that saw some great events and some fantastic golf as well as a terrible cold snap that cause havoc all over the southeast for golf courses all spring and summer.  As the saying goes, you have to take the good with the bad, and that is just what PGA Head Professional Brett Thomaswick and his staff did and now 2019 is looking like it could be a banner year at Sandpiper Bay.

With a great golfing membership and surrounding golf community, Sandpiper Bay hosted some very cool events in 2018.  Brett and his crew are very big into charity.  They hosted events that aided a wide variety of different charitable organizations.  They helped local non-profits like the Calabash Elks Club and the First Tee – Brunswick County.   Nationally known causes like Habitat for Humanity and the Folds of Honor were also on the list for the Sandpiper gang and we certainly are not going to stop as we roll into 2019.

With the rough conditions for a while this year, GM Tim Tilma and ownership made the tough decision to close to play and work on getting the golf course back into the condition golfers have come to expect out of Sandpiper Bay over the last 25 years.  It was a great decision and now the golf course has come back strong and the conditions are great.  Golfers will be very happy with what they find when they tee it up on any of our 3 9-hole courses.

As we said in the beginning, 2019 is going to be a great year.  It starts with the annual “Big Game” golf outing and party on Sunday, February 3rd and goes on from there.  To find out more information about this an any of the other events at Sandpiper Bay call the golf shop at (910) 579 – 9120.
